Home Groups in Sequim
Worship the Word and Relationship
Why
should you join a Home Group?
If you want to catch the
heartbeat of what the Vineyard is all about then come and check out one
of our home groups. We sincerely believe that a church is
about people growing together in relationship with each other and, most
importantly, with Jesus. Home groups are a great place to develop
meaningful friendships, get healed up of "life's hurts", and discover
what God's created you for.
At the Sequim Vineyard we value significant,
trusting, and healthy relationships with one another and with the Lord
more than any other program or function. We were created to have a
personal relationship with Him as our Father and Lord. It is also His
desire that we build and grow in relationship with one another. At this
church your character and growth are more important than your gifting or
how you can serve. For that reason, our home group ministries are foundational to the
functions of this church. They are the primary place we believe people
can get healed, trained, serving, and released. Relationship is central to
everything the Lord has done for us and shown us in the Bible.
Relationships are a foundational value of our
church and Home group ministry is the primary vehicle in which we foster
them. Home
groups exist for several reasons including:
-
To grow
in relationship with God,
-
Build
meaningful, supportive, and accountable relationships,
-
Provide
tangible care for church members,
-
Equip people in spiritual ministry,
-
Embrace
and engraft new believers into church life, and
-
Reach
out to our community in ways the "larger" church can't....
Loving one another is not just another good idea; it is one of
Christ’s great blessings. Fellowship is the garden in which the
fruits of the Spirit multiply, the place in which eternal life is
lived out here on earth. —John Wimber
Paul, in Ephesians 4:2 says, “be completely humble and gentle with
one another in love.”
I have often thought, how can people love each other if they never
relate personally? That is the point of home groups, they are people
who can relate, and can actually live out the gospel. In home
groups we learn how to love the unlovely, thus fulfilling the
command of Christ. Sometimes we are the ones in need of special love
and support to get us through difficult times.
Purpose
The purpose of our home groups are based on Col. 2:2-3
"My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united
in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete
understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God,
namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom
and knowledge."
